Alright, here we go! Every month, I list all the different media I engaged with, along with a short paragraph about what did or didn’t work for me. I watch a lot of movies, read a lot of books, and play a lot of games, so buckle in. --- ## Books My favorite pastime ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Atomic-Coffin.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Dark-Art.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Ghoul.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/How-to-Keep-Your-Cool.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Letter-to-the-Father.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Penitents.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Steal-Like-an-Artist.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/The-Suffering.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Tommyknockers.jpg) # Atomic Coffin What if *Event Horizon* and *The Hunt for Red October* had a baby? That's this book. Psychedelic and unreliable narration are wielded expertly to make for a creepy and twisty ride. Cannot recommend enough. # Dark Art This book is so obviously influenced by *Resident Evil* and *Silent Hill*. There are epistolary storytelling elements, survival horror, and really fucking creepy monsters. I didn't realize this was a novel, as I was locked in and read it in novella time. # Ghoul An important book. It's all feels-bad and always getting worse, but it is ultimately about our most vulnerable and the systems that fail them. It's gross, bleak, and makes you want to scream. Excellent stuff. # How to Keep Your Cool Listen, I am not one of these modern Stoic assholes who shape and bend the philosophy to justify being a piece of shit. Seneca, and the other Stoics, provide immense wisdom that we all need to hear. As a hothead, this one did a lot for me. # Letter to the Father I have a great relationship with my father. Actually, I have a healthy relationship with the vast majority of my family, immediate and otherwise. With that said, we all have trauma. There was something cathartic about reading this letter from Kafka to his father. Reading all the things he wanted to say brought into focus all the good I have in my own relationships. # Penitents Holy fuck, dude. Content warnings out the ass for this one. Backwoods motherfuckers sexually assault and try to kill a transgender polycule. That polycule gets their own rightful revenge. BRUTAL. # Steal Like an Artist A quick read that makes you think about what art and creativity are, and focuses us on how much we steal and morph from the art we love and our everyday experiences. # The Suffering I loved this book. The vibes and atmosphere are so good. Nuns trapped in a convent on top of a mountain during a snowstorm? A crazy, body-destroying disease? Cunnilingus that includes biting and sucking cysts and sores? Stomach-churningly gross, tense, and one of my top 25 horror novels I've read. # The Tommyknockers This sucked, man. It was like homework. Meandering and unfocused, and way, way too long. There's a good book in there, and King agrees, but you can skip this. ## Movies So many hours on the couch ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Isolate-Thief.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/It-Ends.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/The-Uprising.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Tony.jpg) # The Isolate Thief Did you like *Old Henry*? Then you will like this. A solid tense thriller in a western setting. Sean Bean as the bad guy. Good stuff. # The Uprising This was fine. Kind of a Robin Hood origin story. A reminder, in this time, that we have the numbers and power to take back command of our lives. # Tony A great biopic about someone who deeply impacted my life. Anthony Bourdain taught me so much about food, culture, and connecting with others. This is his origin story, and it's done well. # It Ends The best liminal horror movie this year, in my opinion. Go in somewhat blind, and enjoy the ride. ## Television Even more hours spent on the couch ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/08/Sopranos-1.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/08/Lanterns.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Furious.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Golden-Axe.jpg) # The Sopranos I am on the final season! It's clear why this is up there as one of the greatest TV shows of all time. # Lanterns Man, I am jonesing for that finale. A lot of hate in recent weeks, but I feel like it just gets stronger and stronger. It's clear this story is integrated into the wider DC universe that Gunn and co. are building. Snyder dick-riders and comicbook purists need not opine on every episode. # Furious Wow, what an excellent season of television. Awesome performances all around. A serial killer you are kind of rooting for, and cops that don't suck, a rare blend in 2026. # Golden Axe If you like the humor of Star Trek: Lower Decks, and are a SEGA generation child, this is a great animated show. Cast include Matthew Rhys, Liam McIntyre, Lisa Gilroy, and Danny Pudi. Episodes are twenty minutes, so you can get through it quick. ## Games It's all fun and... ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Black-Mold.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Rebirth.jpg) # Black Mold A tabletop procedurally generate dungeon crawler where your turn lasts as long as you can hold your breath. 10/10, would recommend. # Rebirth A beautiful game in its construction. The map is gorgeous, and the pieces all aid an aesthetic I dug. The whole concept is you are trying to rebuild Scotland or Ireland. You take hexagons, score points, and compete to win. Easy, fast, and a lot of fun. ## Comic Books/Graphic Novels Much art appreciated ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Exorcism-Island.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Exquisite-Corpses.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Green-Arrow.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Red-Room.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/Strode.jpg) ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/c1/72/c1725460-f0e8-4c0d-bd08-a1f61196da07/content/images/2026/10/AVA.jpg) # Exquisite Corpses Vol. 3 Not the ending to the series I expected, but it landed the plane. Again, a real life hyper-violent version of Fortnite played by the 13 most powerful families in America via proxy fighters. Bleak stuff as it doesn't feel too far off from reality, but it is slick and fun stuff. # Absolute Green Arrow #1-5 Ballsy for DC to release a comic book that is basically, "Serial killers who tarhet the rich are good, actually." This is my favorite version of Green Arrow so far. It's a dark, gritty, urban horror story about a serial killer. No notes. # Red Room: Trigger Warnings & Crypto Killaz! Not really going to change my review from last time as it holds true here: I have been in the mood for splatterpunk/extreme horror content. *Red Room* is always recommended when it comes to those subgenres in the comic book medium. Some really insane art in here depicting some horrendous things. It's all about torture rooms, so it's pretty well understood what you're getting into when you buy it. It scratched a particular itch for me. # Luther Strode: The Complete Series A nerdy kid gets a book and trains to become an absolute unit. Turns out he has become something mythical that goes as far back as Cain. Super slick action, bloody as fuck, and really cool mythology. Less super hero comic, and more DBZ-adjacent. # Exorcism Island What if the Catholic Church put all of their worst exorcism cases on an Island? And, what if they populated that island with priests who were making nearly zero impact? Now, what if an evil entity corrupted the possessed that were held on that island and caused the shit to hit the fan? That's this series. Super striking, yet simple, artwork. Solid story. # Aliens vs. Avengers If there were ever a pair of my interests I never expected to converge, it's this comic series. It is exactly what it sounds like. Aliens have overrun earth. The Avengers are trying to save what's left of humanity. Hulk vs an army of Aliens? Check. Venom-Alien? Check. Beautiful art? CHECK. Read it. --- ## Fin That means "The End"
